The population explosion is a term which, for me, has many connotations. It is not just about giving birth to another human being; it is about all the thoughts, ideas, situations that the human race is creating, whether they be machines, electronic instruments or whatever. A planet exists by being in balance, not just balance between light and dark but between all the different forms of evolution that are part of it. For a planet to really go ahead in an evolved manner, the different forms of life on that planet need to be in balance with each other. When homo sapiens first incarnated on planet Earth, it was very much a minority form of evolution. Today, on many levels it has become a very predominant form of evolution, and that in itself is creating problems: the kind of problems you are seeing around you now such as the climate change, the stocks of certain minerals, fish and animals beginning to be denuded – all to meet the needs of homo sapiens. Interestingly enough, if I were asked what is the most evolved form of evolution on planet Earth, it would actually not be homo sapiens; there are other forms of evolution on your planet which are far in advance of homo sapiens. By and large most of the forms of evolution on your planet are very patient and very allowing, and this is why homo sapiens has been able to go ahead in the way it has. One of the great lessons that faces humanity as it moves towards the age of Aquarius can be summed up in one simple sentence – in fact I could contain the whole lecture this evening in one simple sentence. We are moving into an age in which every spirit in a humanoid body needs to honour and find and accept its own areas of self-responsibility. For too long the human race has avoided such issues; the company director says, 'I have had a bad year, the staff have not worked hard enough'. Why haven't they? What are his relationships with the staff? That is but one simple example, if you think about it you can think of many such examples along similar lines. If something goes wrong in one's life, who can we blame? Yesterday there was a terrible happening in Indonesia when a bomb went off in a nightclub; the question that should be being asked is, 'Why?'. . . not 'Who did it?'. . . not 'We have to find the person who perpetrated this outrage and punish them'. That is avoiding the issue, the issue is why did they do it? What was their motivation? And if their motivation was to commit such a terrible deed, what is it in them that has brought them to that state of being, where they feel they have to perpetrate such a deed? This is what I mean by taking responsibility. If there is an accident on the railway, of course one needs to know the cause and find ways of preventing a recurrence – but blaming is not an answer and it will never be an answer. Blaming is something that enables people to feel they are dealing with it because it gets it off their chest: 'I have found the person who did that now I can punish them, kill them' or whatever. But if you execute that person, as they do in some countries, you are executing yourself. You are creating an unresolved karma. So when I talk about the population explosion I am including in that the explosion of the emotions, the struggle within each person to try and acknowledge and understand what unconditional love really is. For at the end of the day it is the only answer to the world's problems. Wars will never be solved with guns, wars will never be solved with hate; they can only be solved with unconditional love. On an individual level, if two people come together and they have love for each other, and as a result of that love they unite in the sexual act, then they need to take responsibility for what they are doing. Are they doing it because in a totally unconditional way they would like to bring another child into the world that can receive their love, their understanding, and their support? Think what happens when a child is conceived through the sexual act, when deep love and partnership is not there. They are giving off an energy that will attract the type of spirit that is looking for experiences that such a union can offer it. It may be a very angry, disillusioned, unresolved spirit, so to be able to come into the body of a woman who hates the man who has given her the child - what a wonderful opportunity for it. It won't help it to deal with its problems, although it could do, let us not be pedantic – there is always the opportunity for any spirit to lift itself above the situation it is in. But the challenge is going to be that much harder, for that angry spirit has chosen the body of a child that may be abused, brought up in anger, so that it can create anger in that lifetime; it can create violence and will respond to violence with more violence. The only thing it has difficulty in dealing with is unconditional love. Now I cannot offer you a simple, easy solution to this type of problem, I cannot really give you answers, I can only ask you questions to help you raise questions in your own mind that you can try and resolve. Do you love your fellow beings? Do you admire them? Do you hate some of them? Are you frightened of some of them? . . . for your fear could trigger their hatred. For me the opposite of love is fear, not hatred, it is the fear that creates the hate – so a very simple way to persuade yourself that you have tried to deal with that hate is to blame: 'It is not my fault'. 'It is not my fault that my parents behaved like that. It is not my fault that the government does things that I don't approve of.' Do you realise that every thought of love and compassion you can give your government can actually help them? For sometimes true love for them becomes lost – lost in a world of words and politics where you don't say what you think, you say what you feel is right for the person who is listening and then you have to deal with it on a deep level inside you. Then there are politicians who don't care, who get carried away by their ego, and of course they are not facing anything. It is interesting that in the countries that are the poorest, by and large the families are the largest – the many reasons for this will be obvious. Maybe they need children to work for them, maybe they do not have the distraction of modern entertainment like television, maybe they do not have the same value of life that you have, or maybe they are here to teach the rest of the world a lesson. Where conception is concerned I consider that it is of paramount importance that two people who come together to make love take on the responsibility of what they are doing. If they wish to make love but not procreate then that is OK, because sometimes two people in love need to express that love on every level; but they need to see that it is done in a way that prevents the fertilisation of that seed. A commendable idea and much is done today in the area of contraception. But of course it has its down side because for some it degrades the sexual act into a plaything rather than an act of love. But I do not condemn them for this is where they need to be. Many, many years ago I was asked what my views were on prostitution. My views today are the same as they were then. Isn't it about time that all countries stopped living in a fantasy world of hypocrisy and accept that this is a necessary part of life for many people? One could then have laws to see that it is carried out in a compassionate, understanding, hygienic way so that it is almost like a hospital service and not relegated to the back streets. That is where it is associated with hard drugs and people who make a lot of money out of it and use girls as slaves. No, it is time, as we go into the age of Aquarius, for humankind to wake up and stop judging; to start understanding, enabling people to feel and see and acknowledge what is necessary to create a loving, understanding society. People need to be educated to understand the responsibility of having children; and if a child constantly misbehaves at school, punishment isn't the answer. The answer is in finding out why the spirit in that body is behaving in the way that it is. If you are going to allow the population to stabilise on this planet, it needs to be done in the kind of way that I have suggested. I have often been asked about abortion, is it right or wrong? As you know I do not subscribe to the words right and wrong but I would comment that it all depends on why the abortion is taking place. That spirit has chosen to come in knowing full well that it may be facing such a challenge and therefore will be ready for it. It is strange to see that in some countries people who would condemn abortion will allow people to be executed in the name of the law. What a contradiction, what a paradox! The early part of that child's existence as a fertilised seed - when the spirit comes into it and the embryo is being formed - is a very interesting part of a lifetime and for many spirits that time in the mother's womb is a lifetime on its own. In life you may die in a road accident, in the womb you may be aborted, or there may be some kind of termination through the state of the mother and /or the child. So I urge you to move beyond these double standards. Remember that God is a God of love, that each one of you, as spirit, was created by God, therefore you are part of God, you are experiencing God energy, you are God energy and all those unique experiences that you undergo will one day return to add to the Godhead. As I have said so often: there is no such thing as bad experience, there is only experience. So in answer to the question posed in the title of the lecture, yes, of course you can contain the population explosion if you can start to observe unconditional love, to move beyond judgement, to move beyond manipulation and the need to control. If as a species, you can start to listen and hear, if you can start to acknowledge the light and shadow within each one of you. With the type of emotions engendered in a physical body, and remember the whole purpose of spirit in a physical body is that it can experience physically; it is the only part of the evolution of spirit where it can experience physically. Therefore if your spirit at any one time in a physical body decides, 'I could kill that person', then you have the power to put that into your physical body and enact it out. But if you are wise enough to say, 'There is a side of me that could kill that person, but the other side of me sees that they have problems too and I would like to hear those problems. I would like to understand why they have behaved like that', then you have not only helped yourself, you have helped them. Supposing you are a person who has carried out the murder of a child and you know that half the nation is pouring hate at you, hyped by the media, how does all that negative thought strike you? What does it do to you? It is certainly unlikely to help you to move beyond it. It could do, could do, but that is why it is difficult to give a talk like this because there are no definitives, there are no absolutes. Every spirit can be everywhere, every time with every decision. What is important is that you can live in the now and living in the now means accepting your past, it means facing your past, it means honouring all the different parts of your persona. Recently, I was talking about miracles and I can remember saying you that a miracle occurs when the love and the fear in a person become united and those two polarities become as one – then miracles can happen for you. If humankind does not come to terms with the population of this planet it will move towards forms of self-destruction through climatic planetary conditions, heightened by some of humankind's clever inventions. What are these weapons of mass destruction? Any weapon can be a weapon of mass destruction, it depends how it is used and upon whom it is used. If someone shoots the head of state and the armies roll out and attack that country, killing hundreds and thousands maybe even millions of people, many of them innocent, that is where one single bullet has killed hundreds of thousands of people. Please remember that. So any weapon can be a weapon of mass destruction. I would like to feel that world leaders could begin to understand the significance of that statement. The years ahead up to 2012 are going to be frenetic years, make no mistake about it; I cannot promise you an easy time. But I can reassure you it is not predestined, it is what you make of it. And whilst on the one side the mind is weighed down by these so-called weapons of mass destruction, on the other side, never have the opportunities been so great. Never has humankind started to be ready to lift itself out of the rut of rigidity and move beyond the fear of new ideas, new tenets, new ideals. If you go back over the last fifteen years, look at the advances in understanding in spiritual concepts, complementary medicine. I can say to you quite categorically that what has happened over the last fifteen years is nothing compared to what is going to happen over the next fifteen years. And people like your dear selves who are committing yourselves to that change, I suggest that you say, 'When I awake tomorrow I give myself permission to change, to look at new horizons, to spread my consciousness, my wisdom, my understanding. As I allow that to spread out may it reach every corner of the planet and beyond to the solar system, the galaxy, the universe'. It is quite something isn't it when you think that your thoughts can do just that? So my friends empower yourselves, allow yourselves; enable yourself to be all of those things. Feel the energy surging through your body - spare a minute to meditate with me now.
Relax yourselves…allow your breathing to become easy and relaxed. And say to yourself 'overall I love myself, I am glad I have my failings because they enable me to see the good things in my life as well. And the good things in my life enable me to see the not good things in my life. So, my dear friends, those are my thoughts on the population explosion – can we contain it? I haven't gone into detail for I have not felt it necessary, but what I have tried to do is to share with you the principles, the way forward, the way in which we can help to learn to understand, to hear and to love each other. Well H-A, I think I understand from what you are saying that we can affect the population explosion in time with unconditional love. As far as I can see an awful long time, I don't see how I can affect the Chinese doubling or trebling their people or the Indians and an awful lot of other people who find it necessary to express themselves freely in that way. I can only see the population explosion physically expanding and expanding without any kind of constraints before any kind of ideals of unconditional love can be felt. If each person in this room goes out tomorrow and during the following week and can spare the time to send out thoughts of enlightenment and understanding, they may be doing something more practical to support people who are trying to help these situations, but not in the sense of confrontation, someone may hear you. In fact more than one person may hear you and say, 'My good friend here has a point, I must talk about it and discuss it with my friends'. So that seed that you have sown, like the Buttercup, will begin to spread and create other Buttercups and slowly but surely these Buttercups will begin to spread throughout the planet. I can only say to you, my son, that in my eyes and in my understanding the planet is not beyond redemption. But it does need people who believe and think from their heart and are in touch with their spirit and the higher levels of consciousness to speak out, to reach out, to give out. People like Mr. Bush and Mr. Hussein should not be thinking in terms of war but in terms of peace. Including them in my list was a very real thing for me because the troubles on your planet are caused because people are not hearing and not listening, not taking that responsibility. Does that help? I am not sure as far as the question of the population explosion is concerned, no. So can we contain it? I am taking the question literally. I understand what you are saying and I think I will, as best I can, send out prayers and light, what have you. And some of your innumerable e-mails my son. My innumerable e-mails? Indeed, indeed – Would you be prepared to offer my offering this evening to as many of your friends as possible? Well of course, in whatever way it means to me, I think I already do that to some extent. What I am saying is that people will only start to deal with the population explosion when they start to take responsibility for what they are doing. I understand that but I still think about 1 billion Chinese… So, if you like, neutralising one million Chinese or 1 million whatever, is not going to solve the problem. No, I agree that is what I can't see. I can see the influence of light and love thinking as permeating in time and I think that is probably the best I or anyone can do. You see, because of the way in which the world is polarising itself there will be the type of incidence that you have spoken of - September 11th. There will be climatic catastrophes that will end the lives of many people and these will come about because people have not listened, because they have not looked at it and have not taken that self-responsibility. What I am saying and I am saying it as strongly as I possibly can through this sensitive – if you can only influence two people to start to take responsibility and they can influence two people each, that is the only way in the longer term you are going to deal with the world population in a loving, understanding, Godlike way. I would agree yes, I can't see any other way. I am not saying that one should not issue or offer free means of contraception to people. I am not opposing that but I am trying to take the longer-term view. Yes, thank you H-A. Thank you for your question spoken from your heart and that was important. I am always honoured when a person asks a question from the heart. I think it is very difficult for us to grasp this notion that just we haven't got to be anything other than we simply are in order to affect change. It is quite difficult to grasp that when one does feel, I have got to do something of world shattering importance to make a difference. It is very hard to keep hold of that notion and know that the best thing I can do is simply be me, by the best of my ability; quite difficult to hold onto that sometimes isn't it when you see… But that is the greatest thing any person can offer in a physical body because being you is being you and you can be vocal, you can speak out about your beliefs, hopefully not in an antagonistic way… But what I am hearing is, can that possibly be enough? And I think that is the thing that we all feel. But you meet new people in your life all the time, do you not? And they begin to pick up your energy, your thoughts, and your ideas because you speak with them, you talk to them. Then they will talk to their friends and people they meet, this is how a new idea spreads throughout the planet, and it has to start from somewhere and grow outwards like the Buttercup. Do you think, therefore, that people fall into their delusions and think that they have to do something world shattering? Is that a big part of the problem? And you get people like Bush and Sadam who take this role upon them and… The tragedy as I see it is that they both believe they are right. Many, many moons ago I said the moment of finding your importance is the moment of losing it. Humility is not about being insignificant, it is not about being weak; it is about being free to express what you feel and think. Speaking from the heart, thinking from the heart, but giving it out without judgement, without revenge or retribution, without condemnation, that is the biggest lesson of all that your planet has to come through - and is finding it very difficult to navigate beyond. One of your prophets called Jesus spoke about this very deeply and what did they do to him and how many people have followed that part of his teaching? So allow your teaching to be uninhibited by dogma, uninhibited by political need. Unfetter your fear, let it out, release it – be yourself and feel that spark burning brightly within you. As much as I do not wish to see you standing on your soap box and the ego consuming you, equally it is no help if you write yourself off, saying I am no good, I am not capable and I am not worthy. Every spirit created by God is worthy, full stop! And what you are saying is it is not a question of thinking, oh if only I could write a marvellous article it would be printed in a big paper, or, as you say, stand on a soap box. To just do it in one's own conversation or maybe in e-mails, whatever… So let us write a new book shall we, not conversations with God, but conversations from God, and each one of you is part of that God I would just like to say H-A that I have found what you said quite empowering because very often I think people feel quite powerless in the face of what is happening worldwide at the moment. But the fact that our energy will follow our thought and if we do come from the heart and send out our thoughts then the energy will follow. Remember those three famous words, allow every problem to become a challenge and every challenge an opportunity. That is slightly more than three H-A! But actually the way you said it was very good.
